BERENICE ABBOTT

Berenice Abbott was born on July 17, 1898 in Springfield, Ohio. She studied at Ohio State University and eventually dropped out to self study sculpture in Berline and Paris. After becoming the darkroom assistant of America photographer, Man Ray she took up the art of portrait photography. She took the portaits of many well known French writers and artists such as James Joyce. Her biggest comissioned job was Changing New York in which she documented the evolution of New York's chaning social and architectural scenes. She also took many pictures of phsyic experiments.
